Rifugio Benigni

    Zona delle Orobie

Owned by Alta Valle Brembana Section of the Italian Alpine Club (CAI), Benigni Hut is a small Mountain Hut, located at an altitude of 2222 m, at the head of Salmurano Valley and close to lake Piazzotti.

The hut was built starting in 1982, thanks to the voluntary work of the members of the club and to the financial contribution of Benigni family, who wanted to honour the memory of their beloved Cesare, dead in 1981 on Diavolo di Tenda Peak. The hut was opened on August 1984 and, a few years later, a small winter room with 8 beds was added. In 2007, the hut was enlarged with a new dining room, a new kitchen, two new bathrooms and a recreation room.

On the plateau where the hut is located, Lake Piazzotti offers a pleasant scenary of clean waters surrounded by boulders and peaks.
