Rifugio Marco Balicco

    Zona delle Orobie

Marco Balicco Hut is a nice and graceful wooden building, which integrates with a nearby stone cabin, typical of the mountains of Bergamo; it was built on a previous construction. Twelve beds and thirty seats at the table (fifty seats, considering also outdoor tables). Modern systems for water collection, heating, production of hot water by a solar-thermal plant. Modern and comfortable furnishings, avoiding a rustic faux style. The new building, placed at 1963 m a.s.l., is located at a short distance from Alberto Zamboni  bivouac (10 minutes) - also owned by ERSAF and managed by Alta Valle Brembana CAI section, which festival is celebrated every year at the end of July.

The Hut is dedicated to Marco Balicco, "great defender of the mountain and its traditions, a combative man" in the remembrance of his brother Raymond, current deputy mayor of Mezzoldo. Marco Balicco - mayor of Mezzoldo for 13 years - died prematurely in 1997, when he was still in charge; he was an athlete, ski mountaineering champion, coach and alpine.
