137 - Le Torbiere di Iseo

Dopo aver parcheggiato iniziamo il nostro cammino verso le Torbiere di Iseo. Raggiungiamo la via per Rovato, svoltando a sinistra. Attraversiamo la strada sulle strisce pedonali, prestando attenzione al traffico veicolare. Entriamo nell’ingresso Nord delle Torbiere e raccogliamo delle informazioni dai pannelli illustrativi. Sulla destra è presente una panchina con al centro un posto per disabile motorio in carrozzina. Proseguendo il cammino verso sud il Centro Accoglienza Visitatori Torbiere del Sebino. Lasciato il Centro proseguiamo verso sud seguendo le indicazioni del palo indicatore. Il terreno presenta la presenza di ciottoli e lo stesso risulta a dorso d’asino. Incontriamo inoltre delle radici sporgenti da terreno, le superiamo sulla destra. Ora il fondo si compatta e risulta pianeggiante ed il cammino risulta facilitato. Incontriamo una panchina sul lato sinistro del percorso, in una zona ombreggiata. Superiamo sulla destra una sbarra, posizionata per impedire il passaggio di veicoli. Abbiamo raggiunto l’uscita sud dalle Torbiere verso Provaglio d’Iseo e decidiamo di ritornare verso nord, per raggiungere il percorso verso ovest. Dopo aver raggiunto nuovamente l’ingresso nord delle Torbiere, svoltiamo verso sinistra e seguiamo le indicazioni del palo segnaletico. Sulla sinistra vediamo una coppia di tecnici delle Torbiere che prelevano campioni d’acqua. Proseguiamo il nostro cammino verso l’uscita di nord/ovest. Superiamo sulla destra una catasta di legna posta a seccare. Sempre sulla destra incontriamo e superiamo una panchina in una zona ombreggiata. Raggiunta l’uscita dalle Torbiere di nord/ovest, svoltiamo a sinistra e ci inoltriamo verso sud. Il percorso raggiunto si snoderà verso la torretta di avvistamento dei volatili. Sulla sinistra è presente una panchina con lo spazio centrale riservato per disabili motori in carrozzina. Il cammino prosegue verso sud tra due lagune, una a ovest e l’altra verso est. Incontriamo verso la laguna est una panchina, per l’osservazione in tranquillità, della stessa. Sulla destra è presente un ampio pannello. che ci informa su cosa possiamo osservare. Incontriamo un ponticello in legno che ci permette di superare un piccolo collegamento tra le lagune. La larghezza del sentiero si riduce e si sviluppa tra arbusti mediamente alti. Raggiungiamo uno slargo aperto, con una protezione verso sinistra in legno. Incontriamo un secondo ponticello, che svolge la stessa funzione del primo incontrato. Abbiamo raggiunto la nostra meta, la torretta di avvistamento dei volatili, al centro delle Torbiere. La struttura è in legno, molto ben curata e si accede grazie ad una scala di gradini, abbastanza larga. Lo sguardo spazia sulla laguna di destra, verso ovest. Dopo un ultimo sguardo alla laguna, scendiamo dalla torretta e ci incamminiamo verso l’inizio del nostro percorso. Raggiunto il passaggio pedonale, ci apprestiamo ad attraversare la strada per raggiungere il parcheggio.

After parking, we set off towards the Iseo Peat Bogs. We reach the road to Rovato and turn left. We cross the road at the pedestrian crossing, taking care to watch out for traffic. We enter the northern entrance to the peat bogs and read the information on the display boards. On the right, there is a bench with a space in the centre for a wheelchair user. Continuing southwards, we reach the Torbiere del Sebino Visitor Centre. Leaving the Centre, we continue south, following the signposts. The ground is covered with pebbles and is undulating. We also encounter roots protruding from the ground, which we go round on the right. Now the ground becomes firmer and flatter, making the walk easier. We come across a bench on the left-hand side of the path, in a shaded area. We pass a barrier on the right, which has been placed there to prevent vehicles from passing through. We have reached the southern exit of the Torbiere towards Provaglio d’Iseo and decide to head back north to join the westbound path. After reaching the northern entrance of the Torbiere once more, we turn left and follow the directions on the signpost. On the left, we see a pair of Torbiere technicians taking water samples. We continue our walk towards the north-west exit. We pass a pile of wood left out to dry on the right. Still on the right, we come across and pass a bench in a shaded area. Upon reaching the north-west exit of the Torbiere, we turn left and head south. The path winds its way towards the birdwatching tower. On the left is a bench with a central space reserved for wheelchair users. The path continues southwards between two lagoons, one to the west and the other to the east. Near the eastern lagoon, there is a bench from which to observe it in peace. On the right is a large information panel telling us what we can see. We come to a small wooden bridge that allows us to cross a narrow channel between the lagoons. The path narrows and winds its way through medium-height shrubs. We reach an open clearing, with a wooden shelter on the left. We come to a second small bridge, which serves the same purpose as the first one. We have reached our destination, the birdwatching tower, in the heart of the Torbiere. The structure is made of wood, very well maintained, and is accessed via a fairly wide flight of steps. The view stretches out over the lagoon to the right, towards the west. After one last look at the lagoon, we climb down from the tower and set off towards the start of our route. Once we reach the pedestrian crossing, we prepare to cross the road to reach the car park.
