The path starts from “Il Dosso” (1475 m), a place located along the road that climbs to the Calvi Refuge. (You can reach “Il Dosso” in 50’ following the path n° 210 from Carona, passing Pagliari and Sambuzza valley’s waterfall). On the left you begin to walk the path n° 209 - through a forest - to reach the private “di val Sambuzza” hut (1862 m), where your path crosses the path n° 208 (Central-Western Orobie Trail). Continuing on the right side of the valley (orographic left) climb to Arale huts (1988 m) and to “di val Sambuzza” Lake (2085 m). Finally, you reach Pedrinelli bivouac and the wide saddle of Publino Pass (2368 m). (The real pass, however, is a little higher, about 200 m east along the path that leads to Zerna Peak). Publino Pass allows you to go down the “del Livrio” valley (a little tributary of Valtellina valley) and to reach the Publino lake (45 ').

A marked small variant, path n° 209A (see MAPS) allows you to walk a circular path to visit other lakes in the area: the Caldirolo ponds.
