Leave Coca Hut, go up the valley and reach Coca lake (2108 m). Just before the lake, continue right (east) going up a steep scree and a little canyon by an easy climbing. Continue the ascent on easier (but still steep) terrain, until to reach “del Polledrino” notch, under the southern rib of Pizzo Coca peak and then cross a basin leading to the overlying “del Camoscio” notch (2719 m - attack point of the alpinist climb to Pizzo Coca peak). From the notch carefully descends the left side of the canyon that faces Valmorta valley, proceeding on exposed track on ground with scree first, then with rocks. The descent includes some stretches of climbing and, especially until late season, there is snow that must be faced with appropriate equipment (ice ax and crampons). It is probably one of the most challenging stretches on the path described in the geoportal and the descent should be faced only by expert hikers/mountaineers. After about 300 m of difference in altitude, you will come out the difficulties and will arrive at the underlying valley, closed by an old frontal moraine. Beyond the moraine, the path descends – by hairpin bends - the steep slopes leading to the “lago basso di Valmorta”pond (2145 m). The path continues, first slightly downhill and then steeper, following the remains of a nice muletrack. After that, you continue on a path that has some stretches equipped with chains and that leads at the base of the dam of Barbellino artificial Lake. Here you cross path n° 303 coming from Coca Hut. Go up for a short distance, reach the houses of ENEL guardians and - walking along the lake - you finally reach Curò Hut.

    Note

The descent from “del Camoscio” notch towards Valmorta valley is very challenging due to the presence of some climbing sections, for the severe (at in altitude) environment, for the possible fall of boulders and - especially - for the steep snowy stretches that you must cross. Such stretches are often present until late season and is very dangerous to face them without appropriate equipment and experience!
